General Information |
Detects presence of unexpected antibodies directed against non-ABO red blood cell antigens during pregnancy. An antibody screen results of expectant mothers may help identify potential for hemolytic disease of the fetus/newborn. For antibody screening for any other patient population, please reach out directly to a local blood bank. |

Lavender - The specimen should be tested as soon as possible after collection. If testing is delayed, EDTA specimens should be stored at 2 to 8°C. Draw an extra lavender tube in case of Antibody ID reflex |

Unacceptable Specimen Conditions |
Grossly hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic samples. Frozen samples. Bacterial contamination. Samples from patients other than prenatal. |

Limitations |
Abnormal plasma proteins, cold autoagglutinins, positive direct antiglobulin test, and, in some cases, bacteremia may interfere with test interpretation. |
