General Information |
This test is limited to qualitative identification of hemoglobins without interpretation. This test is also for screening for sickle cell trait for athletes other than those on UW teams. Hemoglobin electrophoresis alone is not adequate for diagnosing thalassemia. For most red cell disorders, we suggest instead ordering "CBC, Thalassemia Reflex Panel" [CTHLR], which includes hb electrophoresis and testing for thalassemia as well as an interpretation. |
