General Information

Reflexive Testing Information: Initial testing is performed for serum protein electrophoresis. Samples demonstrating unusual protein band restrictions will be referred for immunofixation (IFIX) to identify at an additional charge.

3 mL blood in RED TOP or GOLD SST tube
Pediatric:  2 full GOLD or RED TOP MICROTAINERS

Specimen Collection / Processing Instructions

Refrigerate serum. 
Make two aliquots:  0.5 mL to IMM for ELP and 0.5 mL to CHEM for ETP.

Minimum Sample Volume

requested: 0.5 mL serum ELP; 0.5 mL for TP

1 week refrigerated
Long-term frozen
