Additional Processing Details

Assay urinary uric acid as soon as possible. Do not refrigerate.
If pH is less than or equal to 8.0, adjust pH to greater than 8.0 by adding 5 percent NaOH.
Once the pH is adjusted, mix well and allow entire 24-hour collection to stand for 15 minutes. 
Recheck pH and adjust if necessary. Transfer one 3 mL aliquot from a well-mixed 24-hour collection to an standard UA tube.
